Policy and impact

OpenTech is involved in several councils and alliances that align with the strategic goals of our community and organisation.

Making a difference

By having a seat at the table, we can address important policy topics in a coordinated manner and create a real impact on issues that matter to our community.

Some of the topics areas we are currently pursuing include talent attraction, the Swedish STEM strategy, diversity and inclusion in tech, supporting tech entrepreneurs, and increasing European investments in Skåne.

To address these matters, we are part of the following working groups:

The Research and Innovation Council in Skåne (FIRS)

FIRS is a regional council hosted by Region Skåne for key stakeholders working with research and innovation. The aim is to address issues of shared interest from stakeholders across the region. OpenTech is part of the FIRS Tech Group.

The IT Competence Council is a national council hosted by TechSverige for tech industry representatives in Sweden. The aim is to ensure a good supply of tech expertise, which includes educating, attracting, and matching individuals with tech employers.

Silicon Europe Alliance

Silicon Europe Alliance brings together European cluster organisations focusing on the entire electronics and software value chain. The aim is to leverage the transnational power of many to address common industry challenges.

Clusters of Sweden

Clusters of Sweden is a national collaboration platform co-founded by OpenTech. The aim is to highlight and channel the interests, needs, and opportunities of cluster organisations across Sweden, and to support cluster development, collaboration, policy, and internationalisation.

Pink Programming

Pink Programming is Sweden’s largest community for programmers who are women and non-binary. The aim is to work towards a gender-equal tech industry, support those already working in tech, and help companies become more inclusive.

Venture Cup supports tomorrow’s entrepreneurs by offering an established process for people with ideas and connecting them to business experts. The aim is to offer entrepreneurs and startups inspiration, training, mentoring, and the opportunity to build a solid network.
